Gemstones can be used through a number of methods, but different levels of attachment can increase the amount of power channeled.

Loose Gemstone: The magic in this stone can be channeled through touch, and can still be used by another user later on.

Soul Bound Gemstone: The magic in this stone is only useable to one person, but can be within proximity and doesn’t need to be touched to channel magic.

Physically Bound Gemstone: The magic in this stone is permanently attached to the body of the user. The magic is channeled at it’s most powerful phase, but the stone can only be released after the host has died.

Example:
Water Stone (Common, Safe.)

• Loose: User can touch the stone and lift water from a water source. It can be heavy and can cause regular strain, as if lifting water in a bucket with bare hands.
• Soul Bound: User can lift a heavier amount of water, especially with both hands freed. User can also extract liquids from simple sources, such as foliage, dew, mist, etc.
• Physical Bound: User can control heavier amounts of water, such as deterring raging rapids, and enhanced ability to extract from more complicated sources, such as filtering through a rock, or through other living beings.
